Slaley Hall, the wedding of David and Alison

David and Alison were married at Slaley Hall.

so . . guess where this picture was taken ?

drat . the title has given it away hasn’t it . .

slaley hall wedding

ah . . you might have guessed where the picture was taken

but I bet you can’t guess who these folks are

ok

. . . I’ve got you guessing, haven’t I . .

well, the top fellers are the best men . James and Callum,

and the feller on the lower picture is Joshua,

he had quite an important job.

he gave the bride away ! . . seriously !

more pix . . .

the top picture is a candle doing a balancing act

atop a long thin metal pole.

the lower picture is a flower arrangements eye-view of Alison and David chatting to two lovely registrars from Hexham

I say lovely – because registrars, UK wide are divided into those who are lovely,

and those who are not so nice – a different word is used for registars who aren’t so nice.

there is no middle ground.  with registrars – you either get a gremlin or an angel.

fortunately – in my part of the country – they’re lovely.

and here’s a sneaky piccy of the registrars doing registrar things before the wedding . .

slaley hall wedding

ah – you’ll say . .

that’s sneaky . .

perhaps . . but it looked like a good image . . . so I grabbed it.

soooooo

slaley hall wedding pictureso whilst the registars are busy doing registrar things

(lots of important looking bits of paper being written on . . I looked . .

it’s all baffling to me . . )

our groom, David locates a snooker table

if you look carefully – you’ll see that the end of the snooker cue is moving !

oddly enough . . not that surprising really, all things considered . . .

but I kinda like little details like that . . you’ll have to humour me . .

slaley hall wedding picture

I now pronounce you husband and wife

you’ll note a little bit of movement in this picture too.

(spot the hands on the audience)

yes . . they’re clapping !

slaley hall weddingrighto says the registrar

sign here – here’s another piece of paper

sign that one too

then we’ll have a quick game of tug-o-war over the table . . .

David being a good sport, joins in with the tug o war idea

we step outside

and this feller immediately goes

toot.

(actually – an extremely musical series of toots – the same feller also provided music for the wedding ceremony using a keyboard)

THEN.

we wander over to the Japanese Garden at Slaley Hall

which is sometimes tended by a Japanese Gardener.

(he’s possibly on holiday at the minute – David and Alison might smile . . )

though apparently he was heard echoing through the corridors of Slaley last night . .

that’s another story.   you’d need to ask David and Alison about that

then . . slaley hall wedding picture

David tries to get ‘all romantic’ with Alison,

resulting in total hilarity.

I’m guessing that Alisons life with this feller will be filled with smiles.

ah yes . . the cake

the cakes, more like it.

there were some very appetising cakes on that stand,

judging by the heady whiff of chocolate in the vicinity,

I’m suspecting that they were pretty darned excellent !

top picture – flower arrangement thingymajig. they looked rather good.

they also looked quite good when the light changed too. I think I have a picture of one somewhere . .

lower picture – David making his speech, quite unscripted and quite emotional.

I think that’s a toast !

err . please don’t ask me to explain this one.

I kinda thought it adds a tiny bit to the story . . the light begins to fade outside,

the sun sinks below clouds,

glimpsed through the blinds in the window . . .

heck . . ok. it’s a bit of an odd picture,

but I take odd pictures. so there.

it’s that toot toot thingymajig again

(the name will come to me).

perhaps there’s to be music

. I find a playlist . .

ah . . where there is music  . . there might be dancing . . .

slaley hall wedding

did I promise that those flower arrangements looked different in the dark ?

yep . here’s one

ok . . various other pictures were taken

I jumped about taking lots of pictures . .

most of which I haven’t finished working on yet . .

so here’s a final one to be going on with.
