now, there
are lots of these in the area, so I'm going to limit myself to my
favourites . ..
the places
that I've listed below are alll different and have their own strengths.
Dissington
Hall
what can I say ? lovely
place, built in 1797 I believe, by a relative of an admiral who was
there when old one eye - heck, can't see any ships through this thing
Nelson.
trounced the French and Spanish fleets in 1805. hah - that sorted
them out . . .
I could bore you stiff with the history of it all
(though, sad person that I am, I find such things interesting . .
)
what you need to know is
: it's yours for the day, David Burnett and his crew will look after
you very well. the building has heaps of character and I love it to
bits.
just click it's name above, and you will be magically transported
to the Dissington website. like - kapow, whoosh - and you're there
.
(of course you won't hear kapow or whoosh - that was for dramatic
effect only, silly . .. )
Langley
Castle
a firm favourite with yours
truly.
it's a genuine Medieval
castle, about as far from Dissington Hall as you can get in terms
of atmosphere, where Dissington is architectural grace, Langley is
moody massive and very definitely a castle. but exquisitely appointed.
There is some real luxury here . .
within, you'll find Anton
Phillips, - a true gentleman. he's very, very efficient and will ensure
that nothing goes wrong. (nothing would DARE go wrong, or he'd sort
it !).
he's a nice sort of guy to have on your side should things start to
slide -
because basically - he just makes sure that they dont !
Ellingham
Hall
a hidden jewel - just take
a peek at the website, or check out the wedding photographed there
by yours truly . . .
when time permits - I shall
add more venues to this list, but it is really fair to say that those
listed above are very close to my heart.

PIPER

pipes,
nice
guy . . he's the piper to the Lord Mayor of Newcastle.
Northumbrian
pipes are not traditional scottish bagpipes,
they're a smaller version, the piper wears Northumbrian tartan,
which looks like a sort of black and white checky pattern to me .

CEILIDH
BANDS
Ceilidh
bands - different to simply getting a band for your wedding,
a ceilidh band is live music - there's usually someone called a 'caller'
the caller is wired up to a microphone and shouts instructions to
the dancers.
basically it's everything from a highland fling to couples madly twirling
about.
the nice thing about this sort of entertainment is that it's for every
age group.
I've
seen 10 year olds dancing along with 60 year olds.
(and
at a wedding the guests often have a huge age range.

There are now NO LINKS to Video / DVD companies on this website.
If you've already booked me - and are considering booking a Video/DVD operator - please ask for recommendations - I have a great deal of experience in working alongside these people.
There are companies who are a pleasure to work alongside, and there are also some absolute nightmares who will take over your entire day and try to direct it to fit their idea of what your wedding should be.
Some are such a nightmare to work alongside, that your wedding photography would definitely suffer as a result of booking them.
However - some video operators are very discrete - you'd hardly notice they are there.
I prefer the discrete ones - so if you need recommendations - just ask.
