Lemmington Hall was the scene of the wedding of Camilla and Oj (pronounced OJAY)
(I always want to spell Lemmington as Lemington . . .
however, I am assured by various maps that it is Lemmington.
that's two ems . . . mmmm.
(mmmm is four ems . .
oh dear this is getting too complicated . . .)
well - the scene of the reception anyway . .
the day started at Millies parents farm up in the hills of Northumberlands Border country . . .
the farm is below.
below a rather spectacular sky that is . .

well - we've been beamed down and have arrived in Millies room,
where we find our bride hiding behind a dress.

I forgot to mention - the severe changeability (is that a real word ?) of todays weather.
the sky in the first picture should give you a clue.
sunshine - and - well, squalls, downpours, clouds, and . . . more sunshine . .
English weather I'm afraid. a bit of everything all in one day.
below we see Millies mum sporting a rather sensational hat,
making her way to the front of the building in order to have a picture taken . . .
the weather is sort of, changing at this point.
oh - and we're accompanied by bridesmaids and a rather cheery dog.

a quick fast forward - photographs taken, everyone hopping around a wedding car and then rushing back indoors . . we move on to the church,
it's in a village called Whittingham.
below - the boys approach . . .

confident that we have sunshine for the day . .
(well - hopeful that we have sunshine . . )
I hop indoors and find a gentleman playing with a massive music machine in the corner of the church
quick - get a picture before he notices . . .

time flies onwards - and our groom - to the right, sits expectantly in the church.
his best man is beside him. . they're both in the Met apparently.
so I make sure that I'm on my best behaviour. . there are likely to be lots of policemen at this wedding.
( oh no . . did I check my tax disc ? . . drat . . too late now . . . )

Millies grandparents examine the church menu.
hmm .. after service drinks,
could partake of a little of the Chardonnay . .
perhaps a cheeky red ?

above - Millie and her father turn up in a Metropolitan police rapid pursuit vehicle circa 1890.
(no blue flashing light on top - he's off duty today)

and yes - those skies are flipping gorgeous.
I dodge and dive around the churchyard like a mad thing,
basically trying to get a picture of the bride arriving
WITHOUT the lunatic sightseer in the background (in the white top)
she and her husband stood alongside the church as the bride approached.
so I ran ahead to get a different angle -
then she and her husband hopped round the corner and started taking pictures with a little camera.
drat drat drat. oh well, she's in the wedding pictures now.
I hope her pictures came out.
I make a mental note on a piece of paper . . MUST remember to bring a taser next time . . .
hey - those police guys might have been able to help me out with this bystander,
I can just imagine it . . .
surrounded by a dozen six foot men built like brick wardrobes . . . .' you're nicked'

above - a six foot brick wardrobe gives the most pleasant smile as we enter the church.

guests read the order of service - actually - they're singing in this picture
so I guess they're singing the order of service . . .

hah - time moves on - we're signing the register
(well - Millie and Oj are signing it . . over there . .. in the corner . .
A bridesmaid gives a lovely smile from the pew at the front of the church
I notice that in the background . . . Oj is whispering something to Millie . .
I hop over and get a picture whilst he whispers . .
and no . . I don't know what he was saying . . you'll have guess, or make it up . . .

I see the light passing through Millies veil and immediately take a picture.
now . . the serious types among you will say . . what is the subject of this picture ?
my answer is - heck. I don't know. I just think it looks beautiful - so I made a picture of it. that's all.

no prizes for guessing what comes next !
sploosh - they're flooded with confetti . .
actually. sploosh is not really the best word,
but can you think of the correct term ?

Millie and Oj mount the metropolitan rapid pursuit vehicle circa 1890
(which you will remember, is a horse and carriage)
and trot off down the road - observed by the wedding guests who line the churchyard wall - most with littl ewhite camera things clamped to their eyes.
where did I get this picture from ?
ah . . I'd be standing next to the carriage driver as the thing clip clopped down the road.

as the vehicle gathered speed - I hopped off
ran in front of the darned thing and got a picture as it whizzed out of view

the REALLY observant folks among you will have noticed
that the horsies had some red ribbons on their manes.
the red ribbons were of the self ejecting variety
and they self ejected at random moments all the way to Lemmington Hall
fortunately - one of the guests was a trained self ejecting red ribbon spotter and picker upper.
we see this distinguished character arriving at Lemmington, proudly grasping his ribbons.

no caption required for the picture above

our heroes arrive, along with the carriage - which is then planted in front of the hall
in order for sundry guests to nab a picture

sundry guests mingle above

and above - I thought you'd like to see the room set out for the wedding breakfast.

Millie and Oj - attack a cake with a knife,
I take the usual 'hello this is us cutting a cake picture'
then proceed to take pictures of the couple from behind,
and then the guests below

ah - I knew we'd get serious at some stage.
this is Oj posing.
actually - to tell the truth - he wasn't really posing,
I was busy taking a picture of his lovely lady,
I looked over and saw Oj standing as he was - thought - heck - that would make a lovely portrait,
and without needing to pose anything . . I like pictures like this . . they allow the real person to emerge.

umm. what do I say. Millie standing about, looking like a million dollars.
(or whatever currency has value these days).

we continue to rattle off more pictures until the guests are assembled for the wedding breakfast

this is the room that you saw above (you'd have to be a little dim not to realise it)
the one main difference though - is that it has now filled with guests.

I sneak about like a sneaking about thing - taking pictures of guests

and then speeches ensue (or commence - depending on which angle you approach from)
this is Millies father, making his speech,
and as I recall - telling a rather risque joke about a physiotherapist
meeting her future husband,
. NO . . . I won't go there . . . you'll have to imagine the joke for yourself.
.
Millie clearly wasn't phased by the joke - her expression lit up the room.

I continue to observe and photograph guests enjoying the speeches

even little guests enjoying themselves (in between playing with a mobile phone and testing it to see whether it breaks when dropped from 1.5 metres).

hah - the speeches have the audience spellbound -
which means that I can sneak about unobserved and get more pictures without folks realising that I'm there.

Oj makes his speech - I included some of the window in the picture
just to hint at the atmosphere in the room.

and that's it folks. at this point. I left.
speeches over and we finish with a picture of two very happy people.
thank you Millie and Oj.
