Redworth Hall Wedding.

Redworth Hall, at Redworth, Newton Aycliffe.
Beverley and Peter were married here in the rather splendid Redworth Great Hall.
Redworth Hall is quite old, I think it's Elizabethan, (though I think that the carpark was a later addition).

O.K.
it's not every wedding album that starts with a picture of a triffid.

(for those who aren't sure what a triffid is . it's the plant above)

rather whizzo plant forms hidden in the brides bouquet.
Quite arty really.

I think they're seed heads of some sort.

Probably lavender or something similar.

I get the feeling that someone is going to tell me what they are

(shame on me for not knowing . . . )

Place a silver sixpence in your shoe on your wedding day
and you'll never be short of money all your married life . . .

or so the saying goes,

perhaps it's any silver coin that does the trick . .

I've seen silver sixpences filling this role
silver threepences
and even odd little things called silver angels.

. . . that's what this image is all about anyway. (in case you wondered !)

I really connect with the human side of weddings.

This little feller is SO PROUD to be part of this day.

Bride's pal. . extremely happy to be here, mingles merrily,
(or merrily mingles) mixing in a sociable fashion with guests.

(and is nobbled for the album by yours truly and his ever present camera).

into a Hydrangea plant.

Hah - only joking, some of the lads remove the Hydrangea disguises and suddenly become visible !

(sorry Redworth . . those Hydrangea blossoms simply fell into the guys hands).

There's absolutely no way that we're not taking advantage of the girl in the dress and the Elizabethan architecture.

looks like a tube map to me.

well, this is just a hint of the inventiveness of this couple.

the guests names were all listed as stations on coloured tube lines.

first you must find your name,

then you find which colour line you're on. . .
and then you find out which line it is,
the tables in the great hall are all named after tube lines, so if you need to eat . . . . start working it out early,

(could be fun after a drink or two !)

speaking of a drink or two . . .

Is this the secret hideout of an origami ninja ?

The little paper airplanes turned out to be table place markers !

guess what took to the air within minutes of the guests sitting down ?

ALSO . . . on each table was a plain cardboard box.
concealed within the box were odd and amusing things,
ranging from pipe cleaners to little plastic ray guns which fired plastic pink piggies
(really . . . this is all true. . . .
Beverley and Peter had included myself & my assistant in the seating plan . . .
we can vouch for all of this . . . it did happen . . . we saw it and photographed it . . )

well . . the pink piggies took to the air (several bounced off my head as I recall)
pipe cleaners became extremely wonky deely boppers.

were these devices designed as icebreakers ?

    
hey . . there wasn't any ice left to break
after the guests had engaged their neighbouring tables in mock battles involving paper planes, pink plastic flying piggies and various airborne childrens toys).
this was a day of smiles and laughter . . . all the way !

twas easy . . . . she had the top table !

Yippee. a totally fun evening,

Susan and Peter had laid on the following entertainments for their guests . . .

A casino, complete with roulette and blackjack tables.

a rather brilliant neon lit Juke box.

space hoppers (yes . . you heard right . . . spacehoppers !)

yellow and purple foam sponge rubber rockets fired by compressed air.

(oddly enough, I spent a good deal of time ducking
as yellow and purple sponge rubber rockets whizzed just past my ears)

Oh . . . . . . . and a disco too . . (in case you'd like to dance !)
